Why complete the Census 2020?

“The U.S. Constitution mandates a census of the population every 10 years. The 2020 Census will count everyone who lives in the U.S. as of April 1, 2020. Census statistics help determine the number of seats each state holds in the U.S. House of Representatives and how billions of dollars in federal funds will be allocated by the state, local, and federal lawmakers every year for the next 10 years.” U.S. Census Bureau

As we focus on COVID-19 and its impact on our families, friends and community, we may not feel like adding one more thing to our plate.

But, we will soon be working to rebuild our economy.  That is the reason the why Census is more important now more than ever before. Completing the Census will help guaranteed funding from the federal government that will shape the future.

The information collected in the census helps guide where billions of dollars in federal funding are distributed to states and communities each year.  The information helps allocate federal funding to more than 100 programs, including Medicaid, Head Start, community mental health services, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, (SNAP).

In addition to guiding funding, census results can help us plan for new infrastructure such as housing, health clinics and highways.
